Join us as storyteller Adam Booth presents an encore performance of his story about Senator Robert C. Byrd!
Booth researched the Byrd Center’s archives to craft a new story about Senator Byrd, fiddle player and mountain musician. He blends traditional mountain folklore, music, and an awareness of contemporary Appalachia to create original, forward-thinking story artistry. Booth is the 2022 West Virginia Folk Artist of the Year and has been awarded the Governor’s Arts Awards. He is a member of the Recording Academy and his recordings have received many national honors, including a Parents’ Choice Gold Award. He serves as Storyteller-In-Residence at Shepherd and is the founding artistic director of Speak Story Series. Thursday, May 9, 7pm Byrd Auditorium Free & Open to the Public |
The Byrd Center houses the personal papers of five members of the United States Congress from West Virginia in its extensive archives. These collections offer rich resources for exploring national and international events of the Cold War era through the turn of the twenty-first century as well as preserving the voices of millions of Appalachians through their correspondence with their elected representatives.
