COMMUNITY FORUM ON PFAS "FOREVER CHEMICALS"

Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00 pm
Byrd Center Auditorium
A community forum on PFAS (so-called “forever chemicals”) will be held at 7PM ET on Wednesday, January 25, at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education at Shepherd University.

Cancer-causing PFAS are found in dangerous levels in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties.

State Delegate Evan Hansen (D-Mononglia) will talk about a bill regulating these chemicals he plans to introduce in the current session of the West Virginia Legislature. He will be part of a panel that will include Jenna Dodson and Brent Walls. Dodson, the staff scientist at the West Virginia Rivers Coalition, coordinates the West Virginia Water Policy Workgroup and brings West Virginia to the forefront of the federal rulemaking processes. Walls is the Potomac Riverkeeper, and in that capacity he has advised local watershed groups and worked extensively assessing PFAS pollution since 2017.

The panelists will each make a presentation lasting a few minutes, and the floor will then be open to questions from the audience.

Former State Delegate John Doyle will moderate the discussion.

The program will conclude by 8:30pm.
